As a performer, composer, arranger and teacher, Melissa has been a part of the Central New York music scene for over 30 years. Her degrees are from SUNY Oswego and Syracuse University, and she continues her education with yearly seminars and masterclasses. She is an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Central New York Association of music teachers, having served on the board or as president of both organizations. Her approach to teaching is gentle, consistent, and fun. Her students will join her as fellow musicians on a journey using individually tailored music. The goal is always to develop a life-long love of music and the skills to read, create, and participate in making it. Piano will be Melissa’s main focus at the Center, but she is also able to coach guitar, ukulele, flute and singing. She will be adding Mountain Dulcimer very soon for adults.
When she is not engaged in music, Melissa enjoys sailing, gardening and traveling with her husband Bill, and spending time with him, her three sons and daughter-in-law and many lively grandchildren.
